Sosnówka. Recreation center
BackThe Sosnówka Recreation Center in Zgorzałe is a place that evokes strong emotions, and its rating depends almost entirely on the individual expectations of its guests. On the one hand, it offers what Kashubia truly values – direct contact with nature, a picturesque location on the shores of Lake Raduńskie, and a dense forest setting. On the other, however, the technical condition and standard of much of the accommodation offered leave much to be desired, leading to numerous disappointments and negative reviews.
Location – an undeniable advantage of Sosnówka
The resort's greatest and most frequently highlighted advantage is its location. Nestled amidst Kashubian forests and with access to a pristine lake, it provides an ideal base for those who value peace, quiet, and the beauty of nature. This is precisely what attracts tourists seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The opportunity to use water sports equipment, go fishing, or simply relax on the pier are experiences many guests remember positively. For those who prioritize natural surroundings and prioritize living conditions, Sosnówka may prove to be a satisfying choice for a short hospedaje (overnight stay).
The true face of cabañas and habitaciones
Unfortunately, the idyllic image of nature often clashes with the harsh reality of living conditions. A major complaint, echoed in many reports, is the vast discrepancy between the photos presented in listings and the actual condition of most cottages. Guests report that the resort has only a few renovated, visually appealing properties, while the rest are old, neglected buildings dating back to the communist era. This practice misleads customers and is a source of considerable frustration.
The most frequently mentioned technical problems include:
- Terrible condition: Many cabañas (cottages) are in a dilapidated state. Guests report holes in the walls, wobbly furniture (like a three-legged table), leaky doors that require force to close, and a general feeling of filth and neglect.
- Poor quality furnishings: Mattresses are often described as old, torn, and with foam sticking out, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. Instead of curtains, scraps of fabric hang on the windows. Kitchenettes are stocked with dirty dishes and appliances whose condition is questionable, such as a refrigerator that doesn't cool and has mold growing on its seals.
- Cleanliness issues: Both rooms and bathrooms are often inadequately cleaned. Bed linen, though appearing fresh, is often in an unsightly, crumpled ball. Furthermore, guests are often greeted upon entering the resort by a pile of trash, which spoils the first impression.
It's worth noting that not all the facilities at the resort are in such poor condition. There are better cottages, the so-called "Beskidy," that offer much more decent conditions. The problem is that booking doesn't guarantee assignment, and the entire process feels like a lottery.
Infrastructure and Services – Potential vs. Reality
Sosnówka advertises itself as a resort with sports and recreational facilities. On paper, the offerings look promising: volleyball and basketball courts, tennis courts, and even a gymnasium. However, the reality is often different. Guests, especially organized groups such as sports camps, report breaches of contract. The fields are often unmowed and unprepared for use, while the tennis courts are overgrown and lack nets. Worse still, there have been instances where key infrastructure elements, such as the only gymnasium, were reserved exclusively for another group, a fact the organizers only learned about upon arrival.
Similar allegations have been made regarding the food, which is described as "rather poor" and often inconsistent with pre-determined menus or dietary requirements. The absence of a promised lifeguard is another serious complaint that undermines the resort's credibility and the safety of guests.
Management and customer service
Many reviews point to organizational problems and a lack of professionalism on the part of the owner. Guests complain about long waits for check-in (even late into the evening), organizational chaos related to overbooking, and a disrespectful approach to customers. Situations are particularly challenging when guests, upon seeing the condition of their assigned cottage, decide to cancel their stay. Despite promises of refunds, the process is often lengthy and requires multiple interventions, often involving third-party booking portals.
Against this background, the facility manager stands out positively; in the opinion of many guests, she tries to "put out fires" and help solve problems whenever possible, despite the lack of support from her superiors.
Who is this albergue (hostel) for?
Considering all the pros and cons, the Sosnówka Recreation Center is certainly not for everyone. It's not your typical hotel or luxury villa . Those who value comfort, cleanliness, predictability, and high-standard service should steer clear of this place. Families with small children are particularly advised against staying there, as the sanitary and technical conditions can be not only uncomfortable but downright dangerous.
Sosnówka, on the other hand, may be an option for very undemanding tourists, youth groups, or those for whom a low price and a beautiful location are paramount. Anyone who's willing to sleep in their own sleeping bag, doesn't mind the primitive standard, and is willing to overlook numerous shortcomings in exchange for direct access to the lake and forest might find something for themselves here. This place has enormous, yet untapped, potential, and could be a Kashubian gem if only it fell into the hands of a responsible host. For now, when booking a vacation apartment or cottage here, you have to be prepared for anything.
